The sophomore was selected as an individual qualifier to the event being held May 6-8.
California University of Pennsylvania sophomore Sara Suazo was selected as an individual qualifier to the 2019 NCAA Division II East Super
Region Championships being held at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Kentucky, hosted by
Kentucky Wesleyan from May 6-8.
The top-four teams and top-four individuals from a non-advancing team from each super
regional will advance to the NCAA National Championships to be held at PGA National
Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, Florida, from May 14-18. All participants will
compete through the 54 holes of competition. The East Super Region covers a vast geographic
range, rather than the typical conference alignment, that spans from St. Louis, Missouri,
to the Atlantic Coast.
Suazo was one of six individuals selected to the regional championships, which features
12 team qualifiers from primarily the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
and Great Lakes Valley Conference. Defending-National Champion UIndy was one of the
three teams from the GLVC selected to the event.
Suazo is the reigning PSAC Golfer of the Year and has 15 top-10 finishes in her career
with six medalist performances. She returns to the NCAA Super Regional as an individual
qualifier for a second-straight year after finishing with a 26-over 242 (84-82-76) at
the event last year.
