Career centers at Cal U and Clarion are collaborating to bring professional development information to students.
Cal U’s Career and Professional Development Center and Clarion University’s Career Center are collaborating to provide professional development information to students looking for jobs and internships or considering graduate school.
The Professional Development Virtual Conference (PDVC) will be held Sept. 14-17. Two 30-minute Zoom sessions will be held at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. each day and will include a brief question-and-answer period. The sessions will also be recorded and made available on the CPDC YouTube channel.
The event is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors. Students can register through the Events section of their Handshake account. Those who do so by Sept. 7 will also be entered into a $25 Amazon gift card drawing. Each session is worth two Career Advantage points toward earning Career Advantage graduation cords.
A variety of topics will be covered in the eight unique sessions: internship/job search strategies, leveraging LinkedIn, networking, resumes, portfolios, interview tips, graduate school tips, and financial responsibilities.
Business and educational leaders across multiple disciplines and industries will speak, including those from Allegheny Health Network, PNC, Enterprise Holdings, WebFX, TGI Financials, Prince William County (Va.) Public Schools, Cal U and Clarion Graduate Admissions.
“Now more than ever, it's important for students to take action and not let COVID-19 stall their career-building efforts,” said Rhonda Gifford, director of Cal U’s CPDC. “With a minimal investment of time, students who attend these virtual professional development sessions will get lots of inside tips to jump start their internship, job or grad school plans.”
