They’re hiring!

Businesses from Pennsylvania and beyond are looking for full-time employees and interns, and Cal U’s Career and Professional Development Center is co-hosting a virtual recruitment campaign in June to meet the need.

Called GETHIRED, the initiative is a collaboration among five schools in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education — Cal U, Clarion, Edinboro, IUP and Slippery Rock — to connect students and alumni directly with businesses and organizations.

The schools, all located in the western part of Pennsylvania, have scheduled 70 virtual recruitment events this month. They have combined their employer databases, conducted analysis to prioritize invitations and leveraged their relationships with organizations that frequently recruit from them.

The virtual recruitment events are open to students, alumni, faculty and staff from any of the 14 State System universities. They include an organizational overview, presentation of openings, and question-and-answer sessions.

Registration information and a list of participating organizations is available via Handshake. To log in or request an account, visit https://calu.joinhandshake.com/login.

Cal U enables you to connect with Handshake, a comprehensive online career and internship resource offering powerful search tools and alerts. You'll have access to more than 1 million jobs posted by 200,000 companies, nonprofit groups and government organizations nationwide to help you find jobs that best fit your skills and interests.

Sessions will be recorded and posted later this summer to the CPDC’s YouTube channel.

“We are leveraging our shared technology and resources for the benefit of all of our students,” said Rhonda Gifford, director of Cal U’s Career and Professional Development Center.

“Our hope is that by working together, we can achieve more, and that our system is positioned to offer high-value services and opportunities to the greatest number of students, alumni and employers of the Commonwealth.”

Other ways the CPDC is helping students and new graduates become career ready and make connections include virtual career coaching appointments, project-based remote internships and experiences, interview training, and employer information sessions.
