Volleyball

The Cal U volleyball program recently received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the third-consecutive season.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-1993 academic year, recognizes collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

This year, the AVCA recognized 1,313 winners to eclipse last season's record by almost 200 teams. There was an all-time record 171 NCAA Division II volleyball programs recognized by the organization this year.

The Vulcans were one of 12 teams from the PSAC to earn the academic award from the AVCA for the 2019-20 academic year. It marks the ninth time in program history that Cal U has received the laurel.
