Herff Jones Security Breach: What You Should Know

Payments for caps and gowns ordered through bookstore vendor Follett have NOT been affected.

Cal U has been made aware of a data breach affecting customers who made online purchases from Herff Jones, a vendor that provides caps and gowns, jewelry, diploma frames and other graduation items.

Customers at numerous colleges and universities across the country have been affected. Payment information has been exposed, and some Herff Jones customers have reported issues of possible fraudulent activity on their personal credit/debit card accounts.

We have confirmed that no Cal U systems were involved, and that payment information for graduation regalia (caps, gowns and honor cords) ordered through our bookstore vendor, Follett, has not been compromised.

Nevertheless, our University has been in touch with Herff Jones regarding this incident and their response to customers, including customers at Cal U. The company has launched an investigation and is taking action to mitigate risk. Herff Jones will be reaching out directly to customers who were affected by this incident,

What should you do?

If you made a purchase from Herff Jones, please watch for an email from the company.

In the meantime, you should monitor your bank account and credit/debit card statements closely. If you notice signs of unauthorized or suspicious activity, such as charges for items you haven’t purchased, contact your credit/debit card company and report your concerns right away.
