Grad Speaker Series Continues

Two successful alumni are scheduled to speak March 15 and April 14.

The Graduate School Speaker Series at California University continues with two successful alumni set to address the Cal U community in virtual presentations.

Josh Avart will present “From Cal U to the Big Leagues” at 7 p.m. March 15. Zoom link:

The speaker series is sponsored by the School of Graduate Studies and Research and invites engagement with “great minds and important ideas” in a virtual environment.

Avart is an account manager on the group sales and hospitality team for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is 2011 Cal U graduate, with a bachelor’s degree in sport management.

Loper graduated from Cal U with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting and minors in finance and leadership in 2010 and a master’s degree in business administration in 2012. In 2021, he earned his doctorate from in educational leadership.

He works at Duquesne University as the assistant vice president of business services. In this role he is responsible for the oversight and management of Duquesne’s Procurement and Payment Services; Shared Services Center; and Facilities Stores operations.
