The code of conduct applies to off campus behavior as well as on campus behavior. Why? Any decision can impact a student’s academic performance, interfering with a student achieving his/her career goals. Also, students are considered representatives of the university in the local community and inappropriate behavior can reflect poorly on the university’s reputation. Another reason is that some inappropriate behavior can negatively impact other members of the university community and their academic performance. In such cases, addressing the inappropriate behavior can help mitigate the negative impact on others.
