Student Positions Available for Fall 2016
The Student Association’s Multimedia Access Center has part-time student positions for a graphic designer and a lab ambassador available this fall. Flexible schedules of 8-16 hours per week are available depending on eligibility.
Our work study positions are not your typical work study positions. Our student workers have the unique opportunity to work on professional projects that result in valuable portfolio materials and practical experience. We also seek out awards and opportunities for recognition for our student staff. Some past awards received are: Mark of Excellence Award for Digital Illustration, GD USA In-house Design Award, Communicator Award – Web Design, and Outstanding Student Media Leadership Award. Our students have gone on to careers such as Creative Director, Dynamic Image Artist, Senior Communications Manager, Assistant Professor, Product Designer, Web Manager, and IT Analyst.
Graphic Designer Qualifications:
- Must be a current Cal U student enrolled in Graphic Design, Graphics and Multimedia, or other related major.
- Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Illustrator.
- Must be a creative thinker who can work well under pressure in a team environment
- Eligibility for state or federal work study preferred
- Experience using a Mac is preferred
Graphic Designer Responsibilities:
- Create logos, online graphics, posters, and other marketing materials for clubs and organizations, the Student Association, Inc. (SAI), Student Affairs and the general campus community.
- Assist clients with printing, using software, and general inquiries
- Print color jobs daily and large-format prints as needed
- Make sure lab is clean, and printer is stocked with paper and toner
- Answer phone, take messages
- Other support duties as assigned
If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to provide a portfolio of your work.
Lab Ambassador Qualifications:
- Must be a current Cal U student enrolled in Business Administration/Marketing, Communication Studies/Public Relations or related major.
- Must be outgoing, assertive, helpful, and a creative thinker who can work well under pressure in a team environment
- Must have familiarity with social media platforms
- Eligibility for state or federal work study preferred
- Experience using a Mac is preferred
Lab Ambassador Responsibilities:
- Assist students, faculty and staff with printing, using software, and general inquiries while working in the Multimedia Access Center
- Marketing and promotion of the lab, including managing social media accounts
- Print color jobs daily and large-format prints as needed
- Make sure lab is clean and printer is stocked with paper and toner
- Answer phone, take messages
- Other support duties as assigned
