Did You Know!?!?!?!!

There is a wealth of research that has shown that students who live on campus are retained at higher rates.  They have higher GPAs, graduate more quickly, and integrate and adapt to the university more easily.  This comes as a result of a number of factors.  Chief among these is that residence halls are staffed with professional and para-professional staff members who are focused on transitioning new students into the college life and guiding them through the personal and interpersonal challenges that they will face as college students.

The doors to the residence halls are locked at all times and students must use their Cal Card to gain access.   There is also a desk with receptionists at the main entrance 24 hours a day for assistance and to ensure that access and guest policies are followed.  All non-residents must be signed in and escorted at all times by a resident.  The doors to the residential wings are also locked: student room keys open these areas.  There are video cameras at all entrances and exits, computer labs, and common areas.  There is a state-of-the-art fire suppression and smoke detection system and emergency telephones outside the hall entrance.
