January 2018 Graduates and May 2018 Candidates:

Congratulations, Class of 2018! If you are able to join us, we hope you are making the necessary arrangements to attend our 186th Commencement Celebration next month such as purchasing your cap and gown and passing along event details to your family.

Please review the following important dates and information for students and guests who are planning to attend our commencement ceremonies. 

April 13, 2018

The last day to place online regalia orders was Friday, April 13, 2018. Please contact the Bookstore for regalia purchases after this date.

Recommended date for students to purchase caps and gowns. Students should arrange for purchase at least one month prior to commencement, before sizes are limited and it is too late to place special orders.  

Last day for faculty to place regalia rental orders at the University Bookstore.

April 20, 2018

Housing Break Request Form (located on the Housing orgsync portal) will be available for graduating students and students participating in commencement to extend stay in the residence halls to Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2 p.m.

April 26, 2018

Deadline to make class gifts for the 2018 Cal U Class Gift Drive. Make your gift online by visiting: https://www.calu.edu/giving/class-gift-drive.jsp 

Contributors to the gift drive will receive the following items*: 

*Items are not automatically mailed to students who are unable to pick them up in person. You must make arrangements to have them sent to you.

April 27, 2018

Students with disabilities should request necessary accommodations. Alternate access arrangements for commencement events and/or all other accommodation requests should be made to the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), preferably by Friday, April 27, 2018. Contact OSD in person, Carter Hall - G35, or by phone, 724-938-5781.    

April 30-May 4, 2018

Graduating students may return parking permits from April 30-May 4, 2018. If students are required to be on campus, temporary parking permits can be obtained for the last week of the semester. Return parking permits to Room 123, Manderino Library. Please call 724-938-4677 with any questions.

May 7, 2018

Deadline to register your contact information with the Cal U Alumni Association. You are required to update your information to ensure inclusion in our many Young Alumni mailings, e-blasts, networking events, insurance offerings, discounted car rental rates, Cal U logo license plate orders, and more. Don't miss out!

May 9, 2018

Deadline to complete the Cal U First Destination Survey. Click the link in the “First Destination/Share Your Story” email you received, or find the First Destination Survey under the “Career Center” section of your Handshake account.) Complete this 3-minute survey before MAY 9 and you’ll be entered to win a Cal U diploma frame or professional padfolio! Participation in this survey is required, so save yourself time and complete it before the graduation festivities begin!

TICKETS

Tickets are NOT issued/required to attend our commencement ceremonies. All families and friends are welcome to attend our ceremonies. Seating is offered on a first come, first served basis. 

While families and friends of our graduates are welcome to attend our commecement ceremonies without tickets, we ask that you please be aware that there is not unlimited seating capacity at our Convocation Center. For this reason, students (undergraduates, in particular) are asked to please be considerate when planning which of their guests will be representing them at the ceremony. 

Our commencement ceremonies will be available to be viewed online via live stream for any students and/or guests not able to attend in person.

PHOTOS

Our professional photographer (GradImages®) will be taking photos of all graduates as they enter and exit the stage. After commencement, GradImages will email students with details on how to proof their ceremony photos online along with ordering information.

Members of the Cal U marketing staff will also be taking photographs of students and guests for general marketing purposes before, during, and after the ceremonies.

GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES

Our guests are offered parking and seating in order of arrival. Accommodations are not reserved. University staff will be available at the commencement ceremonies to direct guests to the available, designated seating areas.
