Sofia Vergara is an actress and model well-known for her role in the sitcom Modern Family. [1] Born July 10th, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia, Vergara was discovered as a model, but “rose to prominence” while co-hosting two shows and starring in a telenovela on the Spanish language television network, Univision. [2] She moved to the “big screen” in 2002, when debuting in the movie Big Trouble. Vergara also starred in two Tyler Perry films, Meet the Browns and Madea Goes to Jail, which gained her an Alma Award nomination.
