Coming out as bisexual in his 2013 autobiography, The Soundtrack of My Life, Clive Davis is best known as a Grammy Award-winning music producer known for launching the careers of Aretha Franklin, Marry Mannilow, Carlos Sanatana and Whitney Houston. [1] His career in music began as a lawyer working in a law firm that represented Columbia Records, from which led him to a role in their legal department and then president of the label in 1967. [2] Davis has a keen ability to spot talent in any genre and is credited for discovering countless artist including British Rockers, The Kinks, Punk star, Patti Smith and Jennifer Hudson. [2] Having worked with Columbia and Arista Records as well as Sony Music Entertainment, he allowed him to attract and sign notable artist, including Janis Joplin, Dionne Warwick, Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith. [3] Having been credited for the success of so much musically talented individuals, it is safe to say that Mr. Davis has and continues to shape and change the course of the music industry.
