Jonathan Capehart, American, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist was born July 2, 1967, in Newark, N.J. [1] After graduating with a B.A. degree in political science degree in 1989, he began his early career as a researcher for NBC’s The Today Show. [2] Capehart assumed a position on the editorial board for the New York Daily News in 1993, and in 1999, his editorial team won a Pulitzer Prize for a series of columns that were integral in saving the famous Apollo Theater. [3] In 2007, he became the youngest member ever to join the Washington Post editorial board and has been a contributor and featured on MSNBC and ABC News’ This Week with George Stephanopolous. [2] In May 2016, Capehart became engaged to his longtime partner, Nick Schmidt, assistant chief of protocol for the State Department and the two got married in January 2017. [3]
