Position Overview
The Department of Recreational Services is currently looking for qualified individuals to fill the Group Fitness Instructor positions for the Spring 2019 semester. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide leadership and employment opportunities for student employees. The Group Fitness Instructor position will require skills including, but not limited to:
Essential Job Functions
- Lead, teach, and motivate members in various group fitness classes;
- Areas of focus include but are not limited to strength, cardio, and stretching;
- Instructors are required to track attendance for all classes taught and assist with basic upkeep of the equipment;
- Develop routines, programs and music compositions for classes
- Track attendance for all classes you teach
- Ability to disseminate and demonstrate routines to patrons;
- Assist with the equipment set-up and tear-down during work shifts;
- Report all injuries, vandalism, theft, equipment issues, or any problems to appropriate personal;
Non-essential Job Functions
- Prior physical fitness experience is encouraged;
- Energetic, willingness to learn, punctual, positive attitude, group fitness instructor or class specific certification not required but is preferred;
- Ability to work under pressure and keep composure;
- Ability to lift 15 lbs;
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at California University of Pennsylvania;
- Work at scheduled times and/or find an appropriate substitute when necessary;
- Attend all meetings and training seminars;
- Must be in good academic standing;
- Must be able to work a minimum of (8) hours a week;
- Successfully complete a background check.
Other Skills/Abilities
- CPR and First Aid Certification strongly preferred.
