The English Department gives two awards each year: one for the best paper from Composition I and one for the best paper from Composition II. Winners will be notified by 4-6-20. Each award winner will receive a cash award and acertificate. If there is a strong pool of applicants, select student essays may get an honorable mention certificate for outstanding work. Also, each student who submits an essay will receive a certificate of participation. Finally, each faculty member whose course is represented in the contest will receive a certificate of sponsorship.

The Eleanore C. Hibbs Composition Award is in its 36th year. Professor Hibbs passed away in 2006, but her legacy is ongoing.
