GEO 383 Dark Tourism and Extreme Topics
Three-credit ten-week online course open to any undergraduate major as a general elective.
This course counts as a Gen Ed Special Experience.
Since it is a 300-level, it also counts toward your required 42 upper-division credits for any major.
This course is designed for flexible completion to fit into your busy summer plans.

Course description: This course explores some of the more extreme phenomenon of the tourism industry, which is one of the world's largest and fastest growing industries. This course will focus on growing special interest markets within the tourism industry with an emphasis on more extreme topics that touch upon death, destruction, and the macabre. In this course, students study the impacts of dark and extreme tourism development on the culture, society, economies, and the environment at different geographical scales.
