Sigma Tau Delta – California University of Pennsylvania Chapter
International English Honor Society
Opportunities for Members:
- Present a paper, poster, or reading at an academic event or a conference.
- Submit written work to a literary journal, creative writing venue, or journalistic publication.
- Organize or help organize a campus activity to promote English. (e.g., make posters for Banned Books week or write poems in sidewalk chalk for National Poetry Month)
- Volunteer to promote literacy in the local community. (e.g., organize a book drive or volunteer for the Middle School Book Blogs project, volunteer reading time at the Village)
- Raise funds for our Sigma Tau Delta chapter (e.g., bake sale, T-shirt design/sale)
Requirements:
- An English major is NOT required – students in any major can join!
- 3.0 overall grade point average
- Minimum B average in all English classes
- Must have completed at least three semesters of college coursework
- Participation in at least two of the above activities is required before becoming a member.
- Commitment to promoting interest in and enthusiasm about reading, writing, discussing literature and engaging in other creative pursuits.
