STUDENTS! YOUR CHANCE TO BE A STATEWIDE LEADER!

A search is under way to identify three student leaders to serve on the Board of Governors – a 20-member body that oversees Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.

These three students will be full voting members of the Board and have all the rights and responsibilities as other Board members, which include the Governor, the Secretary of Education, legislators and university trustees.

The current student members will leave the Board of Governors when they graduate (two in May and one in December). Each State System university has the opportunity to nominate a student leader to fill one of the seats being vacated.

President Thorn will select one Cal U student for the Board to consider when it makes appointments later this spring.

How can I apply to be considered?

If you are interested in serving as a student member of the Board of Governors, you can learn more here. Both graduate and undergraduate students may submit their names for consideration.

If you decide to offer your name for consideration, you will need to provide:

·        A letter of intent stating why you want to serve.

·        Your resume.

·        A copy of your unofficial transcript.

Please submit these documents no later than 3 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, to the Student Affairs Office (stuaffairs@calu.edu). Our office will compile the documents and forward recommendations to President Thorn.

If you have questions, please contact Brenda DePaoli (depaoli@calu.edu) in the Student Affairs Office.
