The Faculty Professional Development Committee has approved the following changes to the FPD Travel Award guidelines for this fiscal year. While the maximum amount of the travel award has been reduced from $1,000 to $500, ALL regular (tenured or tenure-track) faculty members--not just untenured faculty members--are once again eligible for travel awards. These changes go into effect immediately. Any travel award applications already submitted will be evaluated using the new guidelines.

NEW GUIDELINEEvery regular (tenured or tenure-track) faculty member is eligible for one FPD travel award during the current fiscal year (July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013).

OLD GUIDELINE –Only regular untenured faculty members were eligible for a maximum of two per year.

NEW GUIDELINE—The maximum amount of the award will be $500.

OLD GUIDELINE —The maximum amount of the award was $1,000.

NEW GUIDELINE—Complete travel award applications will be processed in the order that they are received. Faculty members who are planning on travel during the spring or summer semester but who do not have all of the required application information (e.g. conference dates, registration fees, notification of presentation acceptance, etc.) should submit as complete an application as possible with reasonable estimates of costs. These conditional applications will be reviewed; however, no funds will be awarded until the application is complete and actual expenses supported by documentation.

OLD GUIDELINE —Only complete applications were accepted.

UNCHANGED—To be eligible for funding, a faculty member must be presenting or serving in an official conference or organization capacity (e.g. conference planning committee member, organization officer, etc.) at the conference he or she is attending.

A reminder that the procedure for applying for FPD travel funding is separate from the application processes used by other sources of travel funds on campus.
