Rescuing Mila

Sometimes… when we help others we end up helping ourselves.

“When I rescued that stray kitten, little did I know she would help rescue me from my own demons.”

Amber Preston shares her story of overcoming prescription drug abuse in her family. Amber will also talk about how seeing the resiliency of her rescue cat, Mila, helped her realize that she too could overcome her past.

Deidre Muth will be talking about the harmful nature of prescription drug misuse and abuse in an interactive presentation. Deidre will define commonly used prescription drugs, harmful side effects, and signs and symptoms of abuse.

Prescription drug abuse affects millions of people. Sometimes it is loved ones, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, and so many other people that are crippled by the addiction.

Come to be empowered. Come to gain more knowledge. Come because you are not alone. Come to be supported. We are Peer Educators with Options @ Cal U, and we are here to help.

Options @ Cal U is sponsoring this educational discussion on prescription drug abuse on Wednesday, May 1st from 12:00pm-1:00pm in Johnson Multi-Purpose Room.
