Jon Kallis - D2L 10.2 – Upgrade information and instructional design tips for your course shells

Come explore the new D2L 10.2 which includes new features such as a new content map for easier navigation, drag and drop ability, create items like quizzes directly within the Content section, track student progress, and new ways to assess the discussion topics and dropbox submissions.

Respondus - a tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to Desire2Learn. Exams can be created offline using MS Word or text format and then imported into D2L quizzes.   There is also a feature where students can be monitored (via web cam) during the exam

  • Developing quizzes and importing quizzes into D2L using the Respondus tool
  • Importing quizzes made in MS Word into Respondus
  • Uploading quizzes from Respondus to D2L
  • Grading essay in quizzes – tips

Create, customize and personalize content with rich media, interactive exercises, quizzes, and text. The combination of personalized content, embedded assessment, interactivity, and immediate student feedback increases student engagement and improves learning outcomes.  Participants will receive a trial version of the software.

  • Import content from MS Word into Softchalk authoring software.
  • Import videos (YouTube, screen capture) etc.) into Softchalk authoring software
  • Create quizzes and interactive quizzes
  • Connecting (or uploading) Softchalk content to D2L

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro (available to all faculty and staff) to quickly generate PDF documents and forms that can be used to collect information (data). Extend productivity by implementing PDF workflows.

  • Creating forms in MS Word
  • Importing MS Word forms in adobe acrobat
  • Creating forms using adobe acrobat
  • Creating PDF forms that can be filled out saved and/or printed.
  • Collect forms electronically and collect the data from the forms
  • Collect form data and export to Excel
