Join us on Tuesday 3/1 from 11am to 12pm on Zoom for the Transgender Training Institute

This 75-minute session offers faculty, staff, and students a solid foundation for better understanding the identities, experiences, and needs of community members who are transgender and non-binary, and participants will walk away better prepared to honor and affirm transgender and non-binary people in our school community.

As more people come out as transgender and non-binary, it is essential that universities be knowledgeable about and prepared to meet the needs of these community members. In particular, by proactively working to create a transgender inclusive and affirming environment, Penn West University can help decrease the stigma, isolation, and rejection – and the related negative outcomes – experienced by many transgender and non-binary students at non-supportive schools.

Cal U Alum, Dre Ceja (they/them), will facilitate this training experience. Dre is a Chicano, queer, and transgender speaker, facilitator, and trainer. They have worked in non-profit and for-profit settings to educate folks on how to create more affirming, welcoming, spaces for transgender and non-binary people. Dre is passionate about using intersectional approaches to creating more inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive and feel belonging.

You can learn more about Dre by visiting their website here or by following them on Instagram where they share their personal story and educational infographic posts.
