Dear Invitee,

My name is Jordan Nofziger, and I am a doctoral student at Point Park University in the Leadership and Administration Program. I am kindly requesting your participation in a doctoral research study that I am conducting titled: Perceptions of Internal Communication in Higher Education. The intention is to investigate the differences in perceptions of internal communication between institution administration and institution employees (faculty and staff). Completing this research will begin to address the issue of little existing research utilizing the Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire in higher education. In addition, identifying the perceptions of administration versus that of institution employees can distinguish discrepancies in communication satisfaction, when, if repaired, could positively impact employee engagement and job satisfaction.

This study involves completing a survey called the Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire (Downs & Hazen, 1977) and you may be asked to participate in a focus group via Zoom.

Participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time. Any personal information that you provide will be kept confidential at all times and to every extent possible. Those who are invited to participate in a focus group will be asked to not share their last names or identify which institution they are a part of, and information shared in the focus group session should not be shared outside the session. Confidentiality, however, cannot be fully guaranteed but will be protected to every extent possible.

If you would like to participate in the study, please navigate to the following link (https://form.jotform.com/220425367480050). From there, you will be asked to read and agree to the Informed Consent letter before you can begin the study.

Your participation in the research will be of great importance to assist in understanding the current state of internal communication in higher education and how it can be improved.  If you have any questions about this study, please contact me at jnofziger@pointpark.edu.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and participation

Sincerely,

Jordan Nofziger, M.Ed.
