Provide responsible assistance with program preparation, implementation associated with the daily functions, and follow-up activities for the 2022 Cal U nCASE Summer STEM Teacher Training Institute and Student Workshop two weeks prior to the start (June 19th) and at least one week after the conclusion (July 2nd) of the Institute.  

 

One position is 100 hours, and two positions are 200 hours.

Graduate assistants may work remotely prior to and after the actual Institute but will need to be on campus during the actual institute (Sunday, June 19th to Saturday, July 2nd).

STEM or related analytical or education majors (e.g., Math, Tech Ed, Psychology, Sociology, Data Analysis) preferred.

Skills/qualities: Conscientious, positive attitude, reliable, excellent time management and interpersonal/communication skills, flexible and adaptable to change, and a desire to work with the National Center for the Advancement of STEM Educaton staff, national and local public school teachers and students with STEM math & science/technology learning modules.  

Specific tasks

1.       1.  Secure one of the two vans assigned to the project in the mornings.  Complete all of the required paperwork and check the vehicle to be sure it is in working order.  Indicate the time taken from the motor pool.

2.      2.  Travel to the hotel to provide rides to and from the Institute daily and evening venues.

3.      3.  Attend all Institute group meetings including the opening sessions, keynote speakers, student orientations, and organizational meetings.

4.      4.  Assist in the small group projects for the STEM modules assigned.  Help the participants as needed in the design applications and testing process.

5.      5.  Assure the preparation of the break area for morning and afternoon group breaks.  Monitor all refreshment set-up and removal each day.    Break area is to be secure each day upon conclusion of the module activities.

6.      6.  Drive the vans providing the transportation for participants in all evening activities during the Institute two-week process.

7.      7.  Help with the data collection on all aspects of the Institute for federal grant compliance.

8.      8.  Check all data collection systems for correct operation both in process and post data collection episodes.

9.      9.  Assist with other assignments provided by Len Colelli and nCASE staff. (Kim Dillinger, Bill Conley, or Nancy Priselac)
