Army ROTC at PennWest University - California has a rich history. Our ROTC program falls under the umbrella of the Three Rivers Battalion based out of the University of Pittsburgh founded in 1918.

Army ROTC offers students the exciting opportunity to develop themselves physically and mentally while honing their leadership and discipline skills.

Additionally, Army ROTC Cadets have the chance to compete for varying scholarships which can cover much or all of tuition fees. We also partner with the Pennsylvania State National Guard which can offer even more benefits and services to our Cadets. By joining Army ROTC and enlisting in the Pennsylvania State Army National Guard you will be eligible to receive a grant for full tuition through the state’s Educational Assistance Program.

Upon graduation, Cadets who complete the Army ROTC program will receive a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and will compete for specialty jobs in the Army to include Aviation, Nursing, Infantry, Armor, Military Intelligence, Field Artillery, Military Police, Engineer, and more.

Students can enroll in Army ROTC as a Freshman or Sophomore with no obligation to serve after graduation. Once a Cadet successfully contracts with the program, they will have the opportunity to serve in the Active Army, Army National Guard, or Army Reserve after graduation.
