Auditions for the University Players/Cal Theatre's production of Trojan Women will be held on January 19th at 5:30pm. All students are welcome. Sign ups will begin at 5pm in the Blaney Lobby of Steele Hall.

This play explores the aftermath of war, focusing of the fates of the women of Troy whose city has fallen. Their words reach across centuries and give a bleak picture of the devastation caused by conflicts like the ones happening across the globe right now. Written by Euripides and translated by Gilbert Murray, this play seeks to uncover the truths of war and give voice to the victims.

Trojan Women opens 4/20 and will rehearse in the evenings throughout the semester.

From the director:

Please prepare about 60 seconds of a classical monologue. Anything from Ancient Greece or Rome, would be preferred, but if you want to bring in some Shakespeare or anything form the 13th – 16th century, go for it! Or just prepare a piece form the Trojan Woman (TW) script. I am excited to see what all of you bring to the table for auditions.

Email staszel@pennwest.edu with questions or for a copy of the script or view it through the library: https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=sso&db=nlebk&AN=314086&site=eds-live&scope=site&custid=ns332316
