Student Affairs Distinguished Service Award

NOMINATION DEADLINE: March 10, 2023, at 4:00 p.m.


The
Distinguished Service Award for graduating* undergraduate students for outstanding student service and leadership includes a wide variety of leadership engagement that spans across the campus community. This award recognizes student contributions to the mission and activities of the various Student Affairs areas. *Graduates include May, August or December 2023.

 

Students can be nominated by faculty, staff members, or their peers (self-nominations cannot be accepted). Students who are nominated are informed of their nomination by Student Affairs and invited to provide a resume, a list of university service activities and leadership, and responses to questions as part of the nomination process. A selection committee comprised of Student Affairs representatives will review nominations and make award selections based on those who best exemplify the award criteria. Awards are presented at the end of each spring semester to graduating students.

 

CRITERIA

 

Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students who through their leadership have made outstanding and positive contributions to the University community over the duration of their time at PennWest California.

 

Students are not recognized solely on the basis of their on-campus employment status or positions held, but for the breadth and depth of their service and leadership.

 

Eligibility for nomination is based on scholarship, leadership and service. Award recipients must be in good academic and disciplinary standing and demonstrate a balance of academic success and co-curricular leadership and service. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is expected for award recipients.

 

After initial nominations are received, nominees will be contacted to respond to a few questions, as well as submit a resume and listing of university service and activities.
(Student Affairs will obtain academic transcript and disciplinary record on behalf of the nominee.)
