The Cal U men's golf team shot 58 over-par over three rounds to finish 17th at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Championships, which concluded May 9 at The Resort at Glade Springs, in Daniels, W.Va. Sophomore Ryan Smith led the Vulcans individually, finishing tied for 51st while fellow sophomore Austin Smith and junior Ian Dunmyer both tied for 58th.
The Vulcans were one of seven at-large selections from the Atlantic Region, as Charleston
(W.Va.) (MEC), IUP (PSAC) and Livingstone (CIAA) earned automatic qualifiers after
winning their respective conference tournaments. Fellow at-large selections include
Millersville, West Liberty, West Chester, Virginia Union, Mercyhurst and Gannon.
Cal U has placed in the top four in five of nine events this year with a pair of invitational
victories this spring. The Vulcans have been selected to the regional championship
in each of the 11 years under head coach Peter Coughlin.
