Cal U’s talented singers and musicians are featured in these pre-holiday performances. Unless otherwise noted, admission is free and open to the public, as well as the campus community. 

Music on campus 

Nov. 19Cal U Jazz Ensemble, annual fall concert, 7 p.m. in Room 222, Morgan Hall. The repertoire includes Come Fly with Me, by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn; A Night in Tunisia, by Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli; Sway, by Norman Gimbel; and Mueva los Huesos, by Gordon Goodwin. Featured soloists include students David Kiss and Mia Zazac.

Nov. 22University Choirs and Orchestra, annual holiday concert, 3 p.m. in Morgan Hall Auditorium. A string ensemble joins choir members for a rendition of Gustav Holst’s Christmas Day, a three-carol arrangement for orchestra and choir.

Also on the program: Cal U’s own take on the Trans-Siberian Orchestra style and a sing-along of holiday carols.

Off-campus performances 

Dec. 5 — “Magic and Mistletoe,” 6-9 p.m. at the Fayette County Courthouse, 61 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa. Two Cal U jazz combos perform at the seventh annual holiday fundraiser organized by the Fayette County Community Action Agency. Ticket price is $15 in advance, $20 at the door; children ages 6-12 pay $10, tots age 5 and younger are admitted free.

Dec. 5-6 — “Ho Ho Ho with the WSO,” 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at Trinity High School auditorium, 231 Park Ave., Washington, Pa. The California Singers join the Washington Symphony Orchestra and the Washington County High School All-Star Choir for a holiday-themed performance. Tickets are $17-$22; Cal U students are admitted free with a valid CalCard.
