The Department of Music and Theatre presents the theatrical debut of Yet Another Funeral, a musical created by graduating senior and commercial music technology major Dominic Carrola.

Carrola composed the music and wrote the lyrics for the full-length, Broadway-style musical. Mike Meketa, another graduating senior and commercial music technology major, orchestrated the music.

Carrola’s younger brother, Anthony, wrote the book. A third brother, Vince, will perform with the pit orchestra.

Cal U’s Dr. Michele Pagen directs the production, with musical direction by Dr. Yugo Ikach.

On opening night, campus television station CUTV will film invited VIPS at a red-carpet event in the main lobby of Steele Hall.

About the show

Yet Another Funeral is a contemporary romantic comedy featuring a dissatisfied-with-her-life hotel clerk, a down-on-his-luck journalist and a mysterious stranger.

This thought-provoking variation on a boy-meets-girl story includes touches of dark comedy and 21 original songs.

It is rare for a fully produced musical to come to life on a university stage, Pagen says.

"This is a landmark production here at Cal U, and the experience for all of the students is beyond compare. To explore and mount an original piece of theater is exciting, terrifying and exhilarating.”

Other members of the original cast are Mark Barrett, Saleem Carpenter, Katie Cerda, Joshua DeLange, Nicholas Franczak, Kitty Hoffman, Jeshua Myers, Zach Oney, Sidney Popielarcheck, Kate Sickels, Erin Stump, Katelyn Victor and Amelia Wisinski.
