TWO RUNNERS FINISH IN TOP 10 AT NCAA TOURNEY

Sophomore Summer Hill finished in ninth place in the 1,500-meter finals and earned second-team All-American honors onMay 28 at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla. 

This concludes Cal U's athletic year.

Junior Julie Friend finished in seventh place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals on May 27 while sophomore Summer Hill competes in the 1,500-meter finals on May 28 at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla.

Friend earns All-American honors for the second time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Hill will compete in the 1,500-meter finals at 5:45 p.m. May 28.

Junior Julie Friend finished in eighth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase preliminaries while sophomore Summer Hill placed ninth in the 1,500-meter preliminaries at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships on May 26 in Bradenton, Fla.  

Friend  will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase finals at 7:30 p.m. on May 27.

Hill will compete in the1,500-meter finals at 5:45 p.m. May 28.

Junior Julie Friend and sophomore Summer Hill will compete in the NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held May 26-28 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Cal U’s first NCAA competitor will be Hill, who will run in the 1,500-meter preliminary event at 6:10 p.m. May 26. 

Friend will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase preliminary event at 7:55 p.m. the same day.

If Friend advances, the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 27.

Hill will hope to make the 1,500-meter finals, which will take place at 5:45 p.m. May 28.

In 2014 Friend earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Hill also completed at the 2014 Nationals, in the 1,500-meter event, but did not advance to the finals.

Neither student-athlete competed in the 2015 outdoor season.
