Update: Dec. 1, 2016

The Vulcan Parking Garage (Lot 22) will remain closed for the spring semester. These options are available for drivers who hold Lot 22 parking permits:

Option 1: Students with Lot 22 (Vulcan Garage) parking permits may continue to park at Roadman Park (Lot 24) — but those students must change their parking permit to a Roadman Park (Lot 24) permit for the spring semester.

Cost for the renewed Roadman Park (Lot 24) permit is the Tier 2 price of $100.

Option 2: Any Vulcan Garage (Lot 22) permit holder who wishes to exchange his/her permit for an on-campus lot must visit the Parking and Transportation Office in Manderino Library before the end of the Fall 2016 semester.

A limited number of on-campus permits are available; they will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Vulcan Garage (Lot 22) permit-holders also may place their names on the waitlist for an on-campus parking lot for the spring semester. Waitlist spaces will be assigned during the winter break (before the Spring 2017 semester).

Questions? For more information, contact the Parking and Transportation Office at 724-938-4677 or visit the office in Manderino Library, Room 123.

Update: Sept. 26, 2016

With the safety of students, employees and guests as its primary concern, Cal U continues to evaluate the safety of the Vulcan Parking Garage.

We are still in the fact-finding stage of that process. The Michael Baker engineering firm has conducted an evaluation of the parking garage and recommended a deeper dive into the root cause of the failure of decking on the facility’s second floor.

Cal U has now engaged with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., a Pittsburgh engineering firm, to conduct forensic testing of the physical and structural components of the garage.

Our goal is to determine exactly what happened and how best to remediate it.  At this point, we have no timeline for reopening the garage.

Most students who held parking permits for the Vulcan garage (Lot 22) have been relocated to other parking areas. A fee adjustment of $50 will be made within the next few weeks for those students who have been reassigned from the Vulcan Garage (a Tier 1 location) to Lot 4/River Lot or Roadman Park (Tier 2 locations).

Update, Sept. 1, 2016

Adjustments have been made in the weekday Vulcan Flyer schedule to provide extra service while the Vulcan Garage is closed. More buses are running during hours of peak demand; students should expect a wait time of less than 15 minutes between shuttles.

Weekend schedules remain the same. Additional buses may be added for home games and special events.

Also, in response to student requests, the hourly service to Walmart now begins at noon.
