Formed in 2009, SALUTE is the only national honor society that recognizes and honors the service and scholastic achievements of student veterans and military in two- and four-year institutions of higher education.

The Office of Military and Veterans Affairs brought the program to Cal U as a way of honoring students who are current or former service members and who have achieved academic excellence. The society offers lifetime membership and the opportunity to apply for SALUTE scholarships.

Cal U’s 2018 inductees are Taheny Al-Balawi, Daniel Arnold, Guy Bertrand, Delroy Blake, John Carnes, Jr., Donald Fike, Joseph Dugan, Jackie Hanzok, James Lucas, Sean Mageau, Keith Medley, Robert Milhoan, Shawn Warner, Jonathan Wills and Ryan Zanowick.

“We are certainly proud of this honor, which is a great way to recognize the academic achievements of those who served or are currently serving in armed forces,” said Capt. Robert Prah, director of Office and Military and Veterans Affairs.

The Cal U chapter is one of more than 230 SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society chapters nationwide.
