Cal U sophomore Sara Suazo was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
With her selection, Suazo is now eligible for consideration on the Google Cloud Academic
All-America Teams that will be announced next month. She is the second women's golfer
in school history to earn the academic laurel from CoSIDA after Cai Yan Ho garnered the accolade last year.
Suazo registered a career-best scoring average of 78.6 strokes while playing in 10
events this season. She posted seven top-five finishes, including medalist honors
three times as a sophomore. Earlier this season, Suazo recorded her lowest career
round at the Cumberland Trail Golf Classic by firing a one-under 71 in the opening
round of the tournament.
In her career, Suazo has been a two-time individual qualifier for the NCAA Division
II East Super Region Championships. The New York native became only the second golfer
in league history to earn both PSAC Golfer and Freshman of the Year in the same season.
Suazo has totaled 15 top-10 finishes and seven medalist honors in two seasons with
the program, while posting a pair of third-place finishes at the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference Championships.
Suazo boasts a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average while pursuing a degree in computer
information systems.
