An expert on the subject of suicide will hold a virtual discussion at 11 a.m. Nov. 10.

Sam Lonich, a retired Cal U professor and former chair of the psychology department, will host “Demystifying Suicide,” as part of the Student Affairs Diversity Committee’s “What’s the T?” series of discussions about national narratives.

During the one-hour presentation, he will help make sense of what often seems like a senseless act, focusing on the impact it has on those left behind.

Lonich will also discuss the risk factors and how to get help for someone who may be considering suicide.

“The information would also be useful to students who may wonder if a friend is at risk,” said Dr. Dawn Moeller, professor and psychologist at the Cal U Counseling Center. “We will also share resources for those needing additional help.”

Lonich will also answer questions attendees may have after his presentation.

The discussion will be held via Zoom. Students, staff and faculty interested in attending can use the Zoom link, https://calu.zoom.us/j/99160855293, and log in with their Cal U username and password.
