A cybersecurity expert will discuss the prevention and detection of online attacks from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 4.

Keith Mularski, managing director of cybersecurity for Ernst & Young LLP and expert at the Institute for Cyber Law, Policy and Security at the University of Pittsburgh, will give his virtual presentation at calu.zoom.us/j/93091235153.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Mularski was a special agent for the FBI for 20 years. While assigned to the FBI Cyber Division, he led a team dedicated to targeting and dismantling the most egregious cyber-criminal enterprises.

He received the 2014 FBI Director’s Award for Excellence in Outstanding Cyber Investigation and the 2015 Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service.

Mularski’s presentation is part of Cal U’s Research and Real Life series, sponsored by the Center for Undergraduate Research. The series emphasizes the importance of research methods across majors and disciplines.

"Cybercrimes are on the rise," said Dr. Azadeh Block, director of the Center for Undergraduat Research. "Mr. Mularski's real-world handling of cyberespionage cases will give students a chance to hear about how someone from our region has engaged in the most cutting-edge crime fighting research of the 21st century."
