International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on August 31st that aims to raise awareness of overdoses and to reduce the stigma of drug-related death. We also acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have lost their lives or have suffered permanent injury as a result of their addiction.

Overdose Awareness Day spreads the message that the tragedy of overdose death is preventable. Wear silver to show your support, and please take a moment of silence at 12 pm today to honor those who have been lost to addiction and to guide those still suffering toward recovery.

For more information on addiction and recovery, please contact Rachel Michaels at michaels_r@calu.edu or stop by the Prevention Awareness Recovery Center (PARC) located in Carter Hall, G-45.
