May 20 – June 3, 2019
This course is designed to explore biodiversity in various ecosystems and in various agricultural systems in Costa Rica. We pay particular attention to the conservation practices in protected areas and production areas in Costa Rica, and explore how these practices affect and are affected by Costa Rican ecosystem health, economic health, and social structures. A student in this class will experience a highland rainforest, an upland cloud forest, a dry forest and a world-renown botanical garden/lowland rainforest all while learning about the organisms present and ecosystem function.
Cost of the course is $2500.00 (covers all ground transportation, meals, lodging, and lectures), plus airfare and summer tuition costs.
