Position Overview
The Department of Recreational Services is currently looking for qualified individuals to fill the Group Fitness Instructor positions for the Spring 2019 semester. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide leadership and employment opportunities for student employees. The Group Fitness Instructor position will require skills including, but not limited to:
Essential Job Functions
- Lead, teach and motivate members of various group fitness classes
- Areas of focus include but are not limited to strength, cardio, and stretching
- Instructors are required to track attendance for all classes taught and assist with basic upkeep of the equipment
- Develop routines, programs, and music compositions for classes
- Ability to demonstrate routines to patrons
- Assist with equipment set-up and tear-down during work shifts as needed
- Report all injuries, vandalism, theft, equipment issues, or any problems to appropriate personnel
Non-essential Job Functions
- Prior physical fitness experience is encouraged
- Energetic, willingness to learn, punctual attitude, group fitness instructor or class specific certification is not required but is preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and keep composure
- Ability to lift 15 lbs
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at California University of PA
- Work at scheduled times and/or find an appropriate substitute when necessary
- Attend all meetings and seminars
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must be able to work a minimum of (8) hours a week
- Successfully complete a background check
Other Skills/Abilities
- CPR and First Aid Certification strongly preferred
