The Peer Mentoring Program is seeking two graduate assistants for the Summer 2019 term. One GA position will be 100 hours and will be needed for one semester. A second GA position will be 300 hours and will start in Summer 2019 and continue into future semesters.

 

The Peer Mentoring program is a campus-wide initiative which matches current student volunteers with new Cal U students. The peer mentors assist new students with the transition to the university.  The mentoring staff recruits, trains and facilitates approximately 1000 participants in the program.
 
These positions require dynamic individuals who will be completing work-intensive tasks.  Graduate Assistants will gain tremendous experience in further sharpening their communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
 
We are seeking individuals with the following traits:
·                  Ability to work both independently and interdependently
·                  Ability to take direction and follow through
·                  Illustrate experience in giving presentations
·                  Ability to complete detail-oriented work
·                  Exhibit strong interpersonal & communication skills, in person, on the phone, and in written correspondence
·                  Demonstrate organizational and problem-solving skills
·                  Experience as a Cal U mentor is preferred, but not required
·                  Must be considered a full-time graduate student for the 300 hour position (at least 9 credits per semester)
 
The position is typically 20 hours per week for the 300 hour position, during office hours of 8a-4p, Monday-Friday.  Some evening and weekend work will be required, with advance notice.
