Office for Students with Disabilities

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) supports PennWest California in providing learning opportunities for a diverse population. We work to ensure that students with documented disabilities have equal access to University programs and services and are able to participate fully in academic and campus life.

Please view our brochure here.

If you are a student with disabilities, the OSD is available to work in partnership with you to enhance your prospects for academic success at PennWest California. This partnership means that:

  • You are responsible for bringing appropriate levels of academic skills, interest, initiative and self-advocacy to the University setting, whether you study on campus or online.
  • PennWest California is committed to providing reasonable accommodations, guided by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Requests for reasonable accommodations should be submitted directly to the Office for Students with Disabilities. If you are requesting an accommodation, you must provide documentation to substantiate your request and follow appropriate OSD procedures.
Please note that reasonable accommodations do not substantially alter the fundamental nature of the academic and/or technical standards of your PennWest California coursework and/or program.

The accommodation you request must be supported by the documentation on file, and the OSD reserves the right to request additional documentation. Learn more about documentation and assessment reports.

Decisions regarding appropriate and reasonable accommodations rest with the Office for Students with Disabilities.

Services of a personal nature are the student's responsibility.

ADA Compliance

The ADA/504 Compliance Office serves students with disabilities by ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

The compliance office provides an avenue for reasoned, civil discourse and resolution of issues related to the ADA and Section 504.

For concerns about ADA/504 compliance, contact Dr. John Massella, Director, Professor in the Office of Student Affairs.
