CALU has teamed with Clarion, Kutztown, Loch Haven, and Shippensburg Universities to offer an online "Teaching Online Certification Course" for faculty. At this time this course is only available to faculty members.
The course begins on Monday, February 18, 2013, takes 5 weeks to complete, and will be delivered completely online via D2L. Online orientation opens on Thursday, February 14.
This is not a self-paced course. It is instructor lead by instructional designers and has participation requirements, assignments, group work, and weekly due dates. Time will need to be dedicated each week to this course.
The course focuses on:
- How to use the basics of Desire2Learn
- Quality Matters standards
- Developing and structuring an online course
- Using external learning tools such as Collaborate, Blogs, and Wikis
Since faculty members from all five universities will be taking the course, you will be able to interact with other faculty members within the PASSHE system.
This training opportunity is open to all faculty, even if you have already been certified to teach online. If you have not yet been certified to teach online, completion of this course would count as your certification.
"Seating" for the course is limited and slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis*.
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to Jon Kallis at firstname.lastname@example.org
*Make sure to note if you need to be certified to teach online or if you have already been certified previously. Priority must be given to those who still need to be certified to teach online.
