THE FACULTY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF THE POSITION OF
COORDINATOR OF THE FACULTY CENTER
BEGINNING SUMMER SEMESTER 2013
The Faculty Center supports the Faculty Professional Development Committee as it serves to focus the efforts of the University in responding to the growing requests for support of faculty professional growth in all areas of professional endeavor, but specifically in the areas of scholarship and enhancement of teaching.
The Center Coordinator reports to the FPD Committee and is recommended by a selection committee consisting of representatives from the FPD Committee. This recommendation is forwarded to the President or his designee, who approves the recommendation and appoints the Coordinator. The Center Coordinator will begin a three-year appointment in the Summer of 2013, which will be annually reviewed and renewed (for a three-year period) upon a positive evaluation and recommendation by the Committee. Upon the expiration of one three-year appointment, an outgoing coordinator may re-apply for a subsequent three-year term when the position vacancy is advertised.
The Center Coordinator serves as a member of the Faculty Professional Development Committee and is responsible for promoting and supporting the faculty professional development activities as directed by the FPD Committee, but not limited to:
¨ Coordinating the New Faculty Orientation.
¨ Coordinating the annual Academic Excellence Days Event.
¨ Supporting FPD Committee and Subcommittee faculty development initiatives.
¨ Providing on-campus consultation with both full-time and part-time faculty concerning professional development needs.
¨ Providing group consultations and workshops for departments with discipline-oriented topics.
¨ Planning campus-wide workshops on specific teaching methodologies, research on learning, teaching, learning styles, values, etc.
¨ Representing the Faculty Center at the Merit Award/FPDC Recognition event and other on-campus and/or off-campus events.
¨ Supervising the Center staff and the Center budget.
The Center Coordinator position will carry a 1.5-hour workload reduction the first summer semester and a three-hour workload reduction during subsequent fall, spring, and summer semesters.
