Instructions for recording a PowerPoint® lecture using Zoom

 

  1. Make a presentation using PowerPoint®. (Please visit link with information on how to design an effective poster).
  2. Go to D2L and then log in to Zoom (accessed via the D2L communications tab).
  3. Open up your PowerPoint® presentation to its maximum size (i.e. open it in full screen mode).
  4. Press alt + tab to go to Zoom window
  5. In the Zoom app. click on screen share (it’s at the bottom of the screen). Next, click on Slide Show. Then, click on the blue share button.
  6. When you are ready to start recording your presentation, click on the Zoom app’s record button. When recording your presentation, you will be given two options - to either “record on this computer” or to “record to the cloud”. Select “record on this computer”.
  7. When you click on “record on this computer”, this will generate a file that will be saved on your computer. When naming this file, please use one of the following formats.
    1. your full name-research (if your presentation is in the category “Individual Research based on original data”)
    2. your full name-class (if your presentation is in the category “Class Project”)
    3. your full name-creative (if your presentation is in the category “Creative Works”)
    4. your full name-graduate (if you are a graduate student)

  8. When saving your presentation file, please use one of the following format: .MP4, .MOV, .AVI, .WMV, or .FLV
  9. Lastly, submit your presentation and your signed faculty sponsor form and upload them here. You will be taken to a page that has a blue button on it that says “Select Files.” After clicking on that button, select the files you want to upload (your presentation file and your signed faculty sponsor form) and click “OK”.
